The Cape:
This is book three of the James Barlow series. James, now a seasoned FBI agent, is sent back to Boston to investigate the murder of Senator Hays at the request of the new Agent in Charge of the Boston field office, Joyce Bixby. It is thought that remnants of the Winter Hill Gang, now led by James McLean Jr., had the Senator killed. McLean's latest enterprise, the acquisition of a Mississippi paddlewheel steamboat outfitted as a casino and docked in Boston's harbor, has left him with no time to pursue old grudges, so he claims. All this follows Barlow's previous summer's events in which he prevents the kidnapping of the Senator's granddaughter and the pursuit of the would-be kidnappers, who turn out to be two of McLean's men.
