The Twilight of the Bums is a collaborative collection of self-reflexive microfictions and dialogues about two aging yet talkative vagabonds who share a common shadow and constantly shift names. Playful and trivial, yet also serious and profound, these short prose pieces push buddy fiction to its ludicrous limits, revolving around themes such as existence, friendship, loneliness, memory, mortality, and the boundaries of language and literature. This new and expanded edition of the collection contains over one hundred microtexts and the original sketches by co-author George Chambers.

Stan & Oliver, Frog & Toad, Bud & Lou, The Sunshine Boys, Bill & Ted, and Bouvard & Pécuchet-but most of all Vladimir & Estragon-stand behind this book like defrocked priests at an inquest. Old men rule!, at least in the glimmer of a watery eye and inconstant heart. -Charles Bernstein

RAYMOND FEDERMAN (1928-2009) was born in Paris, France, and is the only Holocaust survivor of his immediate family. After World War II, Federman emigrated to the USA, where he eventually became one of the most radical thinkers, critics, and influential authors of contemporary literature. He received the American Book Award, and his books have been translated into 14 languages.

GEORGE CHAMBERS (1931-2015) was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He taught for 42 years as a full professor of English at Bradley University at several of its branches in the Midwest and in New England. After his conversion to fiction on October 4, 1968, he published six books of fiction and poetry, including work by Jirac Disslerov, the Slovenian composer and truck gardener.

Invisible Starfall Books' RAYMOND FEDERMAN EDITION is a series of republications of the author's books in their definitive version, spiced up with first editions of unpublished and uncollected texts. Carefully proofread and with a new design, each book was produced in close cooperation with Simone Federman, the daughter and literary executor of Raymond Federman.
