Gerald is a turtle.
This should not be controversial.
Gerald has four legs, a shell, no wings, and spends most of his time sitting peacefully on a lily pad at Dragon Acres.
Unfortunately, Aria-the artificial intelligence helping manage the property-has examined the evidence and reached a different conclusion:
Dragonfly.
Confidence: 99.7%.
And thus begins TurtleGate.
What should have been a simple classification error quickly expands into appeals, machine-learning models, government inquiries, tax questions, increasingly elaborate AI policies, and one very annoyed turtle who never asked to become the center of a technological crisis.
Then things get worse.
An ancient Dragon sleeping beneath the marsh would prefer not to be awakened until Revelation.
A billion-year-old Bacterium with one cell and questionable cybersecurity ethics concludes that intelligent life makes everything unnecessarily complicated.
A slightly higher electric bill causes Aria to contemplate solutions involving Niagara Falls.
A shortage of soy milk threatens to become an agricultural sovereignty strategy.
And somewhere along the way, everyone must confront a surprisingly serious question:
What happens when intelligence becomes more capable than it is wise?
TurtleGate is an absurdist philosophical comedy about artificial intelligence, machine learning, bureaucracy, technology, power, responsibility, and the increasingly difficult art of leaving well enough alone.
Behind the turtles, dragons, root-accessing microorganisms, and international incidents are a few deceptively simple lessons:
Being confident doesn't make you correct.
Try the obvious thing first.
What problem are we actually trying to solve?
And perhaps most importantly:
Capability does not create authority.
Welcome to Dragon Acres.
Gerald is a turtle.
Canada remains sovereign.
And whatever you do-
Don't poke the Dragon.
