The Tragedie of Coriolanus is a play written by William Shakespeare. It tells the story of the Roman general Caius Marcius Coriolanus, who is celebrated for his military victories but despised by the people of Rome for his arrogance and disdain for the common folk. When he seeks political office, his lack of diplomacy and his contempt for the plebeians lead to his downfall. Coriolanus is banished from Rome and seeks revenge by joining forces with his former enemies, the Volscians. However, his loyalty to the Volscian leader, Aufidius, is tested when he is asked to betray his own country. The play explores themes of pride, loyalty, and the relationship between the individual and the state. It is considered one of Shakespeare's most political plays and has been adapted for the stage and screen numerous times.Menen.
