Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus is a philosophical treatise written by the Austrian philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. The book was first published in 1921 and is considered one of the most important works of 20th century philosophy. The Tractatus is divided into seven main propositions, each of which is further divided into sub-propositions. Wittgenstein's aim in the book is to outline a theory of language and logic that would allow us to understand the world in a clear and precise way. The book is written in a highly condensed and aphoristic style, with each proposition building on the previous one. Wittgenstein argues that language is a system of signs that represents the world, and that the meaning of a proposition is determined by its logical form. He also claims that there are limits to what can be said and understood through language, and that there are certain things that can only be shown, not said. The Tractatus has been highly influential in both analytic philosophy and the philosophy of language. It has been praised for its clarity and rigor, as well as criticized for its limitations and for the later views that Wittgenstein developed in his later works. Nonetheless, it remains a classic of 20th century philosophy and a must-read for anyone interested in the philosophy of language and logic. If a god creates a world in which certain propositions are true, then by that very act he also creates a world in which all the propositions that follow from them come true. And similarly he could not create a world in which the proposition 'p' was true without creating all its objects. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
