Lucille Proulx has a tremendous life energy, and she has written this memoir very much in her own voice. It is conversational, full of insight and natural observations. She is very unassuming and adventurous. I love her movement of connections to geese and elephants and how she speaks of painting as a lifesaver and a life giver. The paintings and process in which she discusses and reflects on her life are evocative and a fascinating exploration of free association and art therapy. Lucille is a pioneer in art therapy in many ways and has lived a full and creative life!

Follow along with Lucille as she explores her long and remarkable life through a series of her art productions. Join her as she navigates a chaotic marriage while living far from her family and friends, then begins university at the age of 50 as a single mother with four of her eight children still living at home. Lucille earns two bachelor's degrees and a master's degree while juggling commuting, studying and raising children, all with very limited finances. At the age of 72 she moves to Bangkok, Thailand, to live and work for three years as an art therapist at the Center for the Protection of Children's Rights Foundation. This is the story of a unique and creative woman's life, a 'woman of her times, that interweaves professional, social, political and cultural history, as well as Lucille's art, throughout.
