What does it really take to be a leader? It's not what Tomanji thinks...
Tomanji wants the golden Leader's Patch more than any badge a Whispering Wood Wanderer can earn - so when the troop sets off on its first big trail hike, he begs to lead. And he leads the only way he knows how: by doing everything himself and telling everyone exactly what to do. It does not go well.
Then the sun sinks, the trail vanishes, and the whole troop is lost in the dark. To get everyone home, Tomanji has to discover the real secret of leadership - that it isn't about being the best at everything. It's about helping everyone ELSE be their best. A warm, adventurous story about leadership, teamwork, and bringing out the best in the people around you.
- A cosy, adventurous story for ages 3-7
- Teaches real leadership and teamwork - trust, staying calm, and lifting others up - through story, never a lecture
- Celebrates the spirit of scouting and outdoor youth adventures (with the Whispering Wood Wanderers!)
- Includes a Note for Grown-Ups, talking points, and a free Everyone Shines activity
- Book 11 of the Woodland Cents series
A leader's not the one who's best - a leader helps the rest shine best.
