A heart-warming story about one little girl who celebrates her birthday with family and friends.
Today is a special day for this little girl: she's turning ten and all of her family and friends are coming to her birthday party! She greets each of the guests as they arrive with birthday cake and presents. After a fun filled day of fun and games, it's time to pack up and go home, a little older and wiser.
Perfect for Cantonese speakers and bilingual/multilingual families who want to encourage their children to speak more Cantonese. Children ages 2 to 6 will love the fun and engaging rhyme of the everyday conversational Cantonese phrases.
Designed for non-native speakers and native speakers who struggle with reading Chinese. Phonetic Jyutping romanisation is included alongside Traditional Chinese to help with pronunciation. No dictionary required!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Deborah Lau was born in Hong Kong but grew up in Australia. As a child, she loved to read but hated Chinese school: there was too much rote memorisation and not enough fun.
When her daughter turned 3, Deborah wanted to find Chinese/bilingual books like her beloved English children's classics: books with captivating stories and vivid characters told in everyday language.
But books like that were very difficult to find. So many are written for Mandarin speakers, assumed she could read and write fluently, or used standard written Chinese which is so different from spoken Cantonese that it might as well be another language.
It was hard to help her daughter love a story when she had to keep stopping to look up the words. So she wrote one they could read together...without a dictionary!
