Simon Kingsley has been apprehended and held at the National Government Police Station. He's been charged with the rape of Hillary Jane Bartlett and the assault of her fiance Norman Bradleigh. Can he convince the authorities that he is innocent, and she consented to sex? Will his misdemeanor in Bristol be revealed and destroy his chances? Hillary Jane has broken the story to the world and is surfing on a sea of publicity and sympathy. Will her account of the events be put into doubt when an unexpected witness comes forward? How far will she go to stop anyone revealing exactly what happened that night? The old man in grey reappears at two different points in time, with a new plan. Will he alter the course of history this time, or will he fail again and endanger the lives of them all? Someone will be convicted and sentenced to live in 1986. Who will it be? They will wake up in Northampton General Hospital with amnesia and won't remember that they are from the year 2262. Society will feel alien to them as they come to terms with their new way of life. Will they be able to adapt and survive in a time 276 years in the past? Could you?
