Realizing that strange things are beginning to happen in Sarvania, and the secret Eye of Shalizar has been stolen from the monks' possession, Thorn dispatches the Shankia monk Shingo to the wizard's order, now based in the vampires' old castle in the Shadow Mountains.
When Shingo doesn't return, Thorn takes his companions to search for the missing monk. Along the way, Thorn finds proof that the wizards' order may be a target of assassination, so Thorn sends the priestess Zalandrea along with his best friend Malic to help stop any attempt to kill wizards.
