You can know what a tenor-clef note is and still have no idea where to put your finger.
Tenor clef becomes a whole different challenge when you have to turn the note on the page into a physical location on the cello. The same pitch can have several homes on the fingerboard, and finding them quickly takes time, practice, and a lot of mental mapping.
This book gives your brain a shortcut.
Using the same memorable note characters from the companion tenor-clef sight-reading book, this book maps those notes onto the cello fingerboard using vivid cartoons, color coding, alliteration and location-specific memory tricks.
The characters don't simply appear on a generic fingerboard chart. Each one is doing something memorable in the particular place where that note lives. The artwork gives your brain visual landmarks for the strings, spots, octaves and individual note locations, helping turn the fingerboard into a mental map rather than a collection of dots to memorize.
The same note character always represents the same pitch-but each of its different homes on the cello gets its own distinctive visual story. This helps you recognize both which note you are playing and where that particular note lives.
The book covers the tenor-clef range needed to navigate the cello fingerboard, including the repeating octave relationships that make the cello's geography easier to understand and remember.
It also introduces the visual language used throughout the system, so you do not need to have read the companion sight-reading book first. If you have used it, however, the two books are designed to work together.
