Psychic detective Malachi Monroe has seen his share of nightmares, but the demon lurking in his bedroom is more than just a frightening encounter. The demon is a warning that something grim and archaic is awakening on Kauai. Amidst his experiences with the undead, other developments are afoot. His exorcism case spirals into a Templar trial, forcing him deeper into the elusive Lavaitus order, an organization that destroys the supernatural with holy precision.
Malachi's client Daniella Delacroix begs him to protect her daughter, a lovely and gifted psychic woman, named Valerie. He soon discovers that she is being stalked by a seductive vampire, Dominic Vaccaro, who is as handsome as he is deadly. Dominic fears for his life at the hands of his maker and is obsessed with destroying him once and for all.
Ancient vampiric overlord and Dominic's maker, Orion Theronax, poses a deadly threat upon his impending return. Orion is whispered about in demon tongues and is even feared by the Templars. His return would mean war: covens rising, spirits flooding the highways of the dead, and the islands drowning in blood.
As Malachi and Valerie grow closer, and their visions weigh heavily on their shoulders, the line between duty and desire blurs. Every step they take pulls them deeper into a conflict as old as scripture.
Can a forbidden romance stand a chance against a 2,000 year old vampire?
