Richard Akoji is a Nigerian, born in Otukpo in 1959. He was educated at Kano Community Commercial College in Kano (now Aminu Kano Commercial College) and later joined the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Kano in 1977, where he worked as Library Assistant. In 1980, he went to the Federal College of Education, Katsina, from which he graduated in Business Education in 1983 with the National Certificate in Education (N.C.E.).
