Brenna and Blythe Battle need to find another dead body like a mermaid needs an umbrella, but the body of wedding cake baker Nikolas Roberson turns up just to remind them that their new life in picturesque Bonney Bay is no cakewalk. Since moving to Bonney Bay several months ago with her recently divorced sister, Brenna Battle, a former judo Olympian, has managed to start a judo school for kids and survive run-ins with four different murderers. While she's won over the Bonney Bay police-especially the dark-eyed, dimpled Officer Will Riggins-Brenna's entanglement with yet another murder has her in hot water with detectives from the neighboring town that has jurisdiction over Roberson's murder. Chased by a yappy little dog, dodging a jilted bride, nearly undone by chocolate ganache, and forced to subsist on stale marshmallows in the Sasquatch-infested wilderness, Brenna and her sister Blythe must cut through the sticky layers surrounding the mysterious death of the area's most popular wedding cake baker before it's too late.Slayer Cake is the fifth book in the clean, humorous cozy mystery series featuring Brenna Battle. Each of the Brenna Battle mysteries is a complete story with no cliff-hanger endings.
