Mike O'Brien has been a pop star since the late seventies (on and off). Over the past forty years he has written and recorded literally dozens of chart dodging hit records. From his early beginnings in the Z-Men, a punk band largely ignored outside of East Yorkshire, through his time in the Velvetones (whose role in music history was acting as a feeder band for the Housemartins and the Beautiful South), to his current lack of success with Pocketful O'Nowt, an eclectic rock band largely ignored outside of South Yorkshire, he has enjoyed a long career packed full of the highs and lows of the non league end of the music industry. In this amazing almanac, you can read his most memorable lyrics and a few tales and stories of his undistinguished avocation.
