William, Connie's grandfather, and ex-husband Matthew must fight to pull her free of the communities' hold on her and to reveal the secrets of the people and the community. Exposing those secrets could lead to the collapse of the community and the discovery of members who have long ago been mourned or forgotten. As all the secrets at the Oasis are exposed, Connie learns that several members of the Arroyo community have died in explainable or natural causes. She knows that one or two deaths in the town the size of Arroyo are understandable but as the death toll rises, Connie begins to explore other possibilities. With Jonathan and William's help, she asks the difficult questions: is it a coincidence, does Arroyo have another serial killer in its midst or just a string of bad luck?
