What follows is not a chase but a reconstruction - conducted patiently, over three weeks, through the close reading of paper fibers, ink density, and the order in which a brush meets a page. Hae-jin has spent thirty-one years at the National Museum of Korea learning to see what other people miss. She does not chase puzzles. Puzzles arrive at her. And the puzzle she is being asked, very quietly, to solve is forty years deep.
