Strife is a play written by John Galsworthy, first performed in 1909. The play is set in a fictional factory town in England, where workers are on strike for better wages and working conditions. The story follows the conflict between the workers and the factory owners, as well as the internal struggles within the workers' union. The play explores themes of power, greed, loyalty, and sacrifice, as well as the complexities of labor relations and the struggle for social justice. The characters include both workers and factory owners, as well as union officials and politicians who become involved in the dispute. As the strike drags on, tensions rise and relationships are tested, ultimately leading to a dramatic and unexpected conclusion. Strife is considered one of Galsworthy's most important works, and a significant contribution to the genre of social drama.WILDER. [Breaking in fussily.] It's a regular mess. I don't like the position we're in; I don't like it; I've said so for a long time. [Looking at WANKLIN.] When Wanklin and I came down here before Christmas it looked as if the men must collapse. You thought so too, Underwood. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
