STATES OF DECAY is a survival-horror science-fiction novel set on Solstation-a vast orbital habitat whose shining, civilized corridors are one malfunction away from becoming a charnel house.
When Simon wakes to screaming sirens and a window full of fire, SolGov has already declared his Zone quarantined. Gravity flickers. Transit tubes become choke points. The station's helpful machines start behaving like predators-herding people, cutting off exits, and harvesting the living with cold procedural logic.
Simon used to be Corporate-Military Division-and he knows exactly what a locked-down system looks like when someone wants witnesses to die. But he's no longer just a man, either. Something inside him-an invasive Symbiont that won't let him bleed out, won't let him quit-keeps dragging him back to his feet.
In the tunnels, Simon crosses paths with Ted, a stubborn civilian out of his depth, a feral child named Kiri, and a desperate teen scavenger. Together they make a brutal choice: stop running in circles and push downward-into the underlevels where the air is wrong, the lights don't reach, and the dead who were left behind have become something else.
Because Haven is rumored to exist. And if it's real, it may be the last place on Solstation that hasn't begun to rot.
Relentless, gritty, and laced with Simon's dry, let-the-world-burn humor, States of Decay is a descent through failing infrastructure, institutional betrayal, and the thin line between adaptation and monstrosity-where the only thing more dangerous than the station is what Simon is becoming to survive it.
