-----
In The Cabinet Minister's Wife and The Bereaved Family, Serbia's great comic playwright turns ambition inside out. A provincial social climber mistakes power for dignity; a dreamer confuses novelty with freedom. Nusic's language is quick and generous, his satire affectionate but merciless where it counts. These plays remain stage-ready, classroom-friendly, and laugh-out-loud funny-proof that pretension never goes out of fashion.
