Gather around for a story where being not okay is welcome, and all feelings are acceptable during the Christmas season--even grief.
Sparrow eagerly anticipates Christmas and tries to invite each of his friends to do fun Christmas activities with him. But each one is feeling blue, anxious, or lonely and is struggling to get into the Christmas spirit. Sparrow is puzzled, but soon realizes that his friends need to know it's okay to be not okay at Christmas. He organizes a Blue Christmas gathering, during which each friend shares how they are feeling and finds comfort in one another and God.
It's okay to not always be jolly at Christmas. There's room for both joy and sadness. All feelings are welcome during the Christmas season.
In this gorgeous picture book, Roger Hutchison, author of Sparrow's Prayer and Sparrow's Easter Garden, artfully makes space for those who may not be feeling festive during the holidays. Gentle, luminous artwork by Ag Jatkowska brings readers comfort and joy in the visual storytelling.
A perfect Christmas gift for Blue Christmas or Longest Night worship services, children's messages during Advent, or for anyone feeling sad during the holidays.
