Vidas De Los Mártires Del Japon recounts the lives and martyrdom of Saint Peter Baptist, Saint Martin of the Ascension, Saint Francis of Saint Michael, all members of the Order of Saint Francis and natives of Spain. This historical account, originally published in 1862, details their missionary work and ultimate sacrifice in Japan. The book continues with biographical sketches of the 22 remaining non-Spanish martyrs, and of Saint Philip of Jesus. This book offers a detailed look into the lives and faith of these individuals during a tumultuous period of religious persecution, providing valuable insight into the history of Christianity in Japan and the dedication of these Spanish missionaries.
