El desarrollo de esta quinta edición de la Revista Historias Pulp ha resultado tan extenuante como la posesión que sufre el cuerpo de la niña Regan McNeill en la historia a la que va dedicada.
A pesar de lo ligado que se encontraba a nuestro recuerdo, a nuestra vida, el enfrentamiento de los sacerdotes contra el antediluviano demonio Pazuzu, no ha sido hasta ahora, habiendo tenido que leer sobre el tema y viviendo una de las épocas más oscuras de la humanidad, con los satanistas al frente de toda acción social, económica y sanitaria, que hemos comprendido el importante alcance del significado de todo ello. Hemos tenido que padecer en nuestro propio tiempo el mal más insidioso, ese que en la retrospectiva de la historia parece tan obvio y que se sirve de los recalcitrantes ignorancia, comodidad, temor y rancio resentimiento de la terrible masa en que se convierte el grueso de los seres humanos cuando carecen de la firme guÃa de una moral coherente para con su propia naturaleza, es decir, una que respete su propia dignidad y libertad.
El mal siempre trata de regir nuestras vidas, y lo hará de muy distintas formas: puede que no siempre como la sobrenatural fuerza de seres malignos, pero sà como una voluntad que busca nuestra caÃda por mero placer, por el simple hecho de presentarse la oportunidad de hacerlo. Puede ser un familiar, un compañero de escuela o del trabajo, alguien cercano y, a los ojos de todo el mundo, irrelevante. O puede tratarse de personalidades públicas, polÃticos, famosos o filántropos que se atribuyen poderes que no les corresponden. Pero será alguien que buscará, dentro de sus posibilidades, ser lo más importante de nuestras vidas, y no para bien. Negarse eso, es como negarse a aprender a nadar cuando te pasas la vida en barco, en alta mar.
Puede que la historia detrás de El Exorcista no sea más que una metáfora para aquel que no tiene fe, pero el mensaje es el mismo, al fin y al cabo: el de plantarse estoicamente en el camino del mal, por poderoso e irresistible que parezca. El de pelear por el semejante que sufre cuando se presenta la ocasión. Y el de seguir actuando como un ser humano, con voluntad, imaginación y benevolencia, por poderosa o numerosa que sea la fuerza que se empeña en negar la Obra por irrelevante, fútil o ridÃcula a sus ojos.
No podemos hacer menos que agradecer a todos los participantes de este quinto concurso sus aportaciones, que han servido para nutrir la que consideramos la más grande e importante de nuestras publicaciones, y que tomamos por una expresión cultural reivindicativa de todo lo bueno que nos hace a todos humanos, por mucho que, en estos tiempos, las voces satánicas insistan en extender su mensaje de que no somos más que basura, que no valemos nada, que no hacemos más que molestar, y que toda expresión de voluntad es algo que sofocar.
Desde Historias Pulp les decimos, con plena convicción: regresad a las profundidades del Infierno, de donde nunca debisteis haber salido!
