Las Paredes Oyen (Walls Have Ears) is a classic comedy of manners by Juan Ruiz de AlarcÃ3n, one of the most important playwrights of the Spanish Golden Age. The play revolves around the themes of honor, reputation, and the dangers of gossip. Set in Madrid, it tells the story of Don Juan, a nobleman whose life is complicated by rumors and misunderstandings.
The intricate plot involves mistaken identities, overheard conversations, and romantic entanglements, all set against the backdrop of courtly society. AlarcÃ3n masterfully uses wit and humor to explore the social conventions and moral dilemmas of his time. 'Las Paredes Oyen' is celebrated for its clever dialogue, well-developed characters, and insightful commentary on human nature. It remains a popular and enduring work of Spanish literature.
