La Nueva Guerra Púnica, by JoaquÃn José Cervino y Ferrero, is a historical poem awarded by the Real Academia Española in 1860. This epic work commemorates the triumphs of Spanish arms in the War of Africa. The poem reflects the 19th-century Spanish perspective on the conflict with Morocco, blending historical events with poetic expression. It offers a glimpse into the cultural and political sentiments of the time. This poem remains a valuable resource for those studying Spanish history, literature, and the relationship between Spain and North Africa. Its enduring relevance lies in its unique portrayal of a pivotal moment in Spanish colonial history. The poem captures the spirit and ambition of a nation engaged in a complex geopolitical struggle.
