Entre los cuentos destacan el sueño mágico de don Illán, que inspiró La prueba de las promesas de Juan Ruiz de Alarcón; el de los tejedores que hicieron un paño invisible al rey, utilizado por Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra en El retablo de las maravillas; y el del mancebo casado con una mujer brava, que inspiró La fierecilla domada de William Shakespeare.
