Asà como un cuerpo no es vida y organismo, sino un mero compuesto material incapaz de mantenerse firme en el juego de las diferentes fuerzas, si no lo impregna y domina la unidad superior de un alma, del mismo modo la primera condición del imperio es una sÃntesis inescindible de espiritualidad y de politicidad; es la presencia efectiva de una jerarquÃa de valores meta-económicos y meta-prácticos que condicione y domine, como un medio respecto de un fin, todo aquello que es económico y práctico; es una diferenciación absoluta entre los individuos --entre sus vidas, sus verdades, sus valores y sus poderes-- por lo cual en algunos seres se convierta en irrebatible alguna cosa que los distancia de las multitudes, asà como la cualidad de un alma que es señora respecto de sà misma se distancia de la materia del cuerpo, del cual ella es el acto.
