Si has pasado tiempo con el hermetismo - la larga y extraña tradición que corre bajo la lÃnea como es arriba, es abajo -, quizá hayas llegado al punto en que la lectura se agota. Sabes a grandes rasgos quién se suponÃa que fue Hermes Trismegisto. Sabes que la Tabla Esmeralda cabe en un puñado de lÃneas y que los siete Principios alcanzan a la mayorÃa de los recién llegados a través de un libro de 1908 llamado El Kybalión. Y has empezado a sospechar que una cosa puede comprenderse en el escritorio y seguir siendo desconocida para las manos.
Este es un manual de trabajo para cruzar ese umbral: para convertir una tradición sobre la que has leÃdo en una práctica que de verdad conservas.
Qué significa aquà práctica, y qué no
Tracemos pronto la frontera, porque casi todo lo que sale mal en este rincón del mundo sale mal justo en esta lÃnea. AquÃ, práctica significa lo que entiende por ella un músico o un contemplativo: una disciplina menuda y repetible de atención, hecha a diario, por sà misma. No significa manifestación, ley de la atracción, adivinación ni técnica alguna para doblegar los acontecimientos a tu voluntad. El núcleo honesto de esta tradición no vende nada de eso, y allà donde sus intérpretes derivaron hacia ello, estas páginas lo dicen. Si has venido buscando una máquina expendedora cósmica, esta es la tienda equivocada, y mejor saberlo en la primera página que en la última.
Todo cuanto hay dentro se ofrece como filosofÃa, tradición y reflexión contemplativa. Nada de ello es consejo médico, psicológico ni financiero, y nada de ello predice ni garantiza cosa alguna.
Lo que trabajarás
- El Mentalismo como disciplina de la atención - la única facultad que de veras te toca adiestrar, convertida de doctrina en ejercicio diario.
- La correspondencia como herramienta de pensamiento - razonar por analogÃa, dÃa tras dÃa, sin resbalar hacia la superstición.
- Los siete Principios, aplicados - la labor del estado, el arte de reencuadrar, la oportunidad de las cosas, el paso de ser un efecto a volverse una causa, y la pareja generadora.
- Los sistemas de correspondencias en la práctica - los siete planetas y sus metales, los cuatro elementos, los dÃas y las horas de la semana, tomados de los Tres libros de filosofÃa oculta de Agrippa (1531; inglés de dominio público de 1651) y manejados estrictamente como sÃmbolo, nunca como pronóstico.
- La alquimia como transformación interior - solve et coagula, disolver y recomponer; las fases-color (nigredo, albedo, citrinitas, rubedo) leÃdas como una psicologÃa del cambio real.
- Meditación, respiración y ritual sencillo, hechos con seguridad - suaves y contemplativos, con advertencias llanas allà donde una práctica se acerca al cuerpo o a la mente.
- El diario hermético, una práctica diaria hecha para durar, y un capÃtulo honesto sobre los riesgos - la evasión espiritual, el pensamiento mágico, la grandiosidad y la sabidurÃa de saber cuándo parar.
Recorre cada capÃtulo la única disciplina sobre la que se sostiene toda la serie: mantener separados el hecho histórico, la enseñanza tradicional y el sÃmbolo - en la página y en las manos -, porque una práctica levantada sobre la confusión de los tres es una práctica levantada sobre arena.
Este es el Libro II de la serie Hermetica, el nivel Intermedio. Da por supuesto que llegas con lo básico en la mano, pero se sostiene por sà solo. No se te pedirá creer nada. Solo se te pide estar dispuesto a empezar: en pequeño, despacio y con las luces encendidas.
