ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Against a backdrop of renewed oppression and a growing loss of meaning, Simone Weil's singular thought feels strikingly urgent and relevant.

The publication of Simone Weil's Essential Writings offers a comprehensive introduction to the work of one of the most singular thinkers of the modern era, whose ideas have taken on renewed and urgent relevance amid today's loss of meaning and attention. With a foreword by Remedios Zafra, this anthology brings together a selection of Weil's most significant essays, articles, and manuscripts, addressing subjects such as the rise of totalitarian ideologies, her experience working in a factory, the value of the individual, the needs of the soul, and the spiritual life. Together, these writings give shape to an exceptional and coherent body of thought, born from a rigorous attentiveness to reality. It is a body of work that led Albert Camus, her publisher, to call her the greatest mind of our time.
