Nacido en 1955 en Auvers-sur-Oise, Jean-Pierre Martinez sube primero a las tablas como baterista en varias bandas de rock, antes de convertirse en semiólogo publicitario. Luego fue guionista de televisión y volvió al escenario como dramaturgo. Escribió un centenar de guiones para la pequeña pantalla y más de cien comedias para el teatro, algunas de las cuales ya son clásicos (Viernes 13 o Strip Poker). Actualmente es uno de los autores contemporáneos más interpretados en Francia y en los paÃses francófonos.
