Este libro surge como una crÃtica frontal a la forma en que la filosofÃa ha sido institucionalizada y alejada de la vida cotidiana. Pedro A. Cruz argumenta que la filosofÃa ha sido secuestrada por lenguajes técnicos, estructuras académicas elitistas y prejuicios sociales que la presentan como una disciplina reservada para unos pocos. Su propuesta es clara: devolverle a la filosofÃa su sentido común, su carácter popular y su capacidad transformadora. La obra rechaza una filosofÃa encerrada en universidades y propone una práctica abierta, accesible y comprometida con la realidad social.
En sus capÃtulos, Cruz denuncia la exclusión sistemática de las voces populares en el pensamiento filosófico, la arrogancia de ciertas figuras académicas y la forma en que el lenguaje complejo actúa como barrera para el pensamiento colectivo. Además, sostiene que muchas instituciones enseñan a repetir ideas, no a pensar crÃticamente, y que el verdadero filosofar -como el de Sócrates- nace en las calles, en la duda sincera y en el diálogo con los otros. Pensar, según Cruz, no debe ser un acto regulado por credenciales, sino un ejercicio vital y cotidiano.
El autor también desmonta varios prejuicios populares sobre la filosofÃa, como la creencia de que no sirve para nada o que todos los filósofos son ateos. A través de una lectura crÃtica de los diálogos platónicos y una comparación con los filósofos modernos como Descartes y Locke, muestra cómo el lenguaje filosófico se volvió excluyente.
