Soul Song is an epic novel that explores the idea of rerincarnation. Darius Desari is a young Persian officer of the Sassanid Empire, shortly after the birth of Muhammad. He faced the full fury of the wolves of Arabia as they carved a bloody empire of their own out of the shocked and startled Middle East. For years the empires of Byzantium and Persia had been fighting each other until their armies were exhausted. They were easy prey for the new armies of Islam.
The natural enemy of Darius is Rashid, a camel driver like Muhammad himself, who became part of the camel cavalry sweeping out of the ferocious desert. Both men are fated to be born again and again, in the crusades at the battle for Acre, and in the final years of the reconquest of Spain at the fall of Granada. Their story is also the story of the great clash of faiths and civilizations with both sides carrying the sword of God.
As Akbar the Great is expanding the Mogul Empire in India Darius is re-born as Darvarshi, the gentle Sikh. The Sikh faith was born with the belief that there is only one Creator, one God, one Divine Unity that the Hindus call Brahmin and the Muslims call Allah.
Finally the book is brought up to date with the terror attacks on the Twin Towers in New York and the Hamas attack on Israel and the hostage crisis that followed in the twenty first century. Soul Song is a novel of vast scope and perception which spans centuries of human conflict.
