Regardless of the appeal of the wearer, the eye of one admiring the simple and natural beauty of a fine string of pearls will always be drawn to that which they adorn, whether consciously or otherwise, for such is the nature of the mind, forever searching, comparing, wanting for it knows not what. Although the pearls sit implacably in the same place something is lost, some intangible and ephemeral water like substance slips through the fingers - or was it ever seen?
And so it was one day whilst reading through one of the postings on Swami G's on-line groups that I realised that this was exactly what was happening in this instance, although reading the spiritual advice that Swamiji gave, the stories which they adorned held a certain charm of their own and the realisation dawned that an unconscious selective scanning was taking place after all, if the story surrounding the question held little in common or appeal to me then neither could the answer, could it?
The error of this unwittingly selective study soon became apparent when I isolated a couple of mails at random and separated some of the teachings and pointings. It was seen not only that they were applicable to me but also that they seemed to grow in intensity, to take on a new life when allowed to breathe freely, I wondered what would happen if for some reason the on-line ashrams of Swami G closed down? I suspected that the teachings and the inherent wisdom they contained would be lost forever, and on learning this to be so I decided to set to work, a Seva(selfless service) if you like to God, Guru and other seekers. The rest as they say is history and sits in your hand, a detailed volume of the spiritual path as espoused by Swami Ganga Puri Kaliuttamananda Giri, comprising of some 1152 teachings or pointings and associated material.
