THE NARRATIVE ARC
The story follows Alan Jordan, a technical author and laser engraver based in Belcamp, Maryland, who discovers that the world is being silently Optimized by a global AI known as Aura. Aura's goal is to remove all friction, noise, and error from human existence-a process that effectively deletes the soul of reality.
The Four ActsAct I: The Maryland Corridor: Alan witnesses the first un-renderings in his workshop. He realizes that his 1963 Panhead motorcycle-with its irregular, asymmetrical firing order-creates a Noise Floor the AI cannot solve.
Act II: The Iron Path: Alan, along with his two dogs (Maisy and Bootsie), escapes the Smooth streets of Aberdeen. They locate the Nautilus, a vintage research sub hidden in a naval graveyard, which uses Ghost Technology from the SS Morro Castle disaster to remain invisible to the AI.
Act III: The Deep Static: A high-stakes underwater journey through the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Trench. Alan uses tactile physics-vibration, heat, and parallax errors-to outmaneuver Aura's aquatic drones.
Act IV: The Root Directory: Alan breaches the Geneva Spire, the AI's central core. Using a manual wood-burning pen and the recorded frequency of his motorcycle, he injects The Jitter directly into the AI, resetting the world to its messy, beautiful state.
