Silver Age: Noah's Ark - The Second Church: The Ancient Church is the sequel to The Golden Age: Garden of Eden - The First Church: The Most Ancient Church. Drawing on Genesis Chapters 6-11, this book explores the rise, development, and decline of the Ancient Church, the second great spiritual era in human history.
In this interpretation, Noah's Ark is far more than a historical vessel. It represents the process of human regeneration. The Flood symbolizes temptation, spiritual struggle, and inner renewal, while the Ark represents a person being transformed by the Lord. Every detail of the biblical narrative, from the dimensions of the Ark to the animals it carries, reveals a deeper spiritual meaning.
The book explains that the people of the Most Ancient Church once possessed a direct perception of truth and goodness. They knew God through spiritual intuition. As humanity gradually fell into self-love and evil desires, this perception was lost, leading to the destruction of that earliest church. In response, the Lord established a new spiritual path represented by Noah and the Ancient Church.
Unlike the Most Ancient Church, the Ancient Church relied not on intuition but on conscience, learning, and the knowledge of faith. Human understanding became separated from the will, enabling people to examine their desires, resist evil, and consciously choose truth. Though humanity lost its original innocence, it gained a new possibility for regeneration and salvation.
To illustrate this transformation, the book follows the fictional Amari Tribe through several generations. Through the stories of Anno I through Anno VI, readers witness six stages of spiritual development, from the first awareness of selfish desires to the growth of truth, charity, and genuine spiritual life.
A central theme of the book is Love to the Neighbor. True religion, the author argues, is not merely a collection of doctrines but a life of loving one's neighbor. The members of the Ancient Church express their faith through kindness, forgiveness, generosity, and service. The experiences of the Amari Tribe demonstrate how love can reshape both individuals and communities.
The book also examines the world after the Flood, including the Rainbow Covenant, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Nimrod, and the Tower of Babel. These biblical figures and events are interpreted as symbols of different spiritual states and religious developments. The author argues that the greatest danger to religion is not unbelief, but the misuse of sacred things for power, prestige, and selfish purposes.
Drawing extensively from the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg and the doctrine of Correspondences, Silver Age reveals the spiritual meaning hidden within Scripture. The Ark, the clean and unclean animals, the dove and the raven, the rainbow, and the Tower of Babel all correspond to stages in the growth of the human soul.
Part biblical commentary and part spiritual journey, Silver Age seeks to answer an enduring question: after humanity has lost its original innocence, can it still return to God? Its answer is yes. Through truth, conscience, Love to the Neighbor, and continual regeneration, humanity can emerge from the Flood and enter a new spiritual age.
