It is eventually revealed that Thomas Brennan, driven by years of animosity, orchestrated a complex plan involving Elena and his sister, Monica. Monica Brennan ultimately delivered the fatal blow to Victor Ashford, carrying out a carefully planned act of revenge for the years of professional and emotional destruction inflicted by the curator.
