The Shore Road Mystery is the sixth book in the classic Hardy Boys series by Franklin W. Dixon (a pseudonym used by various authors under the Stratemeyer Syndicate). The novel follows Frank and Joe Hardy as they investigate a string of automobile thefts occurring near Shore Road, a coastal route in their hometown of Bayport.
The story begins with the Hardy boys' friend, Jack Dodd, being accused of stealing the missing cars. The Dodds, a father-and-son team, are well-respected in the community, and Frank and Joe are certain of Jack's innocence. Determined to clear his name, the Hardy boys dive into the case.
As the mystery unfolds, they discover clues pointing to a gang of thieves who have been using the area around Shore Road to carry out their heists. The boys face several dangers, including attacks by the gang and attempts to derail their investigation. With their resourcefulness and courage, they eventually crack the case and bring the real culprits to justice.
