The unseen enemy that is trying to influence our every action. Shacklebolt is a master tempter with the unenviable job of teaching other inexperienced demons how to tempt and hopefully corrupt a human soul. His newest junior tempter is a demon named Pinegrub who has never had much to do with humanity. Pinegrub much preferred a quieter life as a message courier. He faithfully delivers an important message and earns the confidence of a demon lord who recommends him for service as a tempter. Shacklebolt must attempt to teach this unassuming young demon how to make war on humankind. After a rough start Pinegrub gains his footing as a tempter and a student of human nature. Shacklebolt guides the young demon into the nuanced world temptation. It is after all their job to drag humankind down to damnation. Pinegrub proves to be something of an apt pupil. The young demon slowly learns the art of gently manipulating humans down the path of eternal destruction.
