The year is 2332.
After centuries of promises, negotiations, and disappointments, Szeklerland still has not received the autonomy its people have dreamed of for generations. Eventually, the Szeklers decide that if the answer cannot be found on Earth, then perhaps it can be found among the stars.
Thus begins the mission of the ESZSZ Space Wheelbarrow, the first and only spacecraft of the Szekler Space Alliance.
Purchased second-hand, repaired with questionable engineering, and supplied with everything from advanced technology to homemade pálinka and potatoes, the ship embarks on a one-way journey into the unknown depths of the galaxy.
At its helm stands Captain Bendegúz Kovács, a man trying desperately to maintain his sanity while commanding one of the most chaotic crews ever assembled. Scientists grow vegetables and cook traditional food in space. Engineers can repair anything but rarely follow regulations. Soldiers solve problems with excessive enthusiasm. And the ship's artificial intelligence, Margitka, seems to know everything except what anyone actually wants to know.
As the Space Wheelbarrow ventures beyond the Solar System, the crew encounters strange alien civilizations, mysterious worlds, unexpected dangers, and absurd situations that no mission briefing could have predicted. Every discovery raises new questions, and every solution somehow creates an even bigger problem.
Yet beneath the humor and chaos lies something deeper: a story about belonging, perseverance, identity, and the stubborn determination of a people unwilling to give up on their dreams.
Part space adventure, part satire, and part cosmic comedy, Szekler Space Odyssey offers a unique blend of science fiction and humor unlike anything you've read before.
Welcome to the universe of Secler Space Punk-where the stars are distant, the problems are endless, and somehow there is always enough pálinka to make things even worse.
Or better.
