Nestled deep within the rolling slopes of the Shenandoah Mountains lies a small, picturesque village with the unusual name of SeaTree, a town that seems to have escaped the hands of time. Cobblestone streets wind lazily through clusters of cozy, stone cottages, their ivy-covered facades adding to the town's charm. Local shops line the narrow streets, their windows filled with hand-crafted goods, homemade jams, and fragrant soaps.
Just outside the village, the land shifts to rolling farms, orchards, and vineyards. Set at the base of MacBride Mountain, a Tuscan-inspired winery thrives, producing wines that capture the essence of the earth's warmth and richness, along with an extra element that sets the wines and ciders produced here apart from those of its competitors.
That element is a closely guarded secret. Hundreds of feet beneath the mountain, a cavern chamber is home to a mystical tree. Its leaves are shimmering pastels, covered in crystals that fracture the light emitted by the tree, creating a kaleidoscope of colors that seem to move, though there is no breeze to stir the leaves. An ethereal music emanates, softly echoing off the chamber walls. Those few who know of the tree's existence are endowed with extraordinary gifts that enable them to protect the tree from whoever or whatever seeks it. These guardians are the Council, sworn to a lifetime of ensuring the power within remains veiled from the outside world.
The town has a new police chief, Lucas Michaels. With him is his daughter, Laura. Lucas is an Army veteran and a decorated police officer, having previously served in the military before joining SeaTree. Father and daughter look to start over in a new town following the loss of Brenda Michaels, wife and mother. The newcomers become members of the Council and soon find themselves gifted with powers unlike those of the other Council members. Another newcomer, Ellie Cooper, flees her past, chased by an evil human trafficker and drug dealer. Trouble follows close behind and threatens to reveal the secret inside MacBride Mountain.
