The sandfish skink (Scincus scincus) belongs to one of the most ecologically adaptive and evolutionarily successful families of reptiles: Scincidae. This family, commonly referred to as skinks, encompasses more than 1,500 species distributed globally across a wide array of habitats-from dense rainforests to the most austere deserts.
