Some children's thoughts settle down at bedtime. Sam's climb aboard a carousel - and spin.
A Built for Big Things book - and a gift for any child whose brain likes to spin.
Sam's thoughts spin like a fairground carousel - round and round, faster and faster, and never with happy things. What if I get it wrong? What if Mum forgets me? Worst of all is night-time, when the worries queue up one by one and telling them to go away only makes them spin faster.
Then Mum gives Sam's spinning thoughts their name - anxiety, a worry brain that's only trying to keep him safe - and Grandad opens his shed and lifts down something small and very old: a little wooden box with a tiny carved star. It can't make the worries disappear. But it can give them somewhere safe to live, so they don't have to live inside Sam's head.
A gentle, reassuring picture book about anxiety and worry, for every child whose brain likes to spin - and for everyone who loves them. Sam and his Spinning Thoughts shows young readers a simple, real-life trick they can try the very same day.
Inside you'll find:
- A warm, hopeful story about worries, courage, and a box that helps
- Beautiful, full-page illustrations on every spread
- A Make Your Own Worry Box activity so children can build their own somewhere-safe
- A short note for grown-ups with caring, practical guidance
Perfect for ages 5-9 - at bedtime, in the classroom, or wrapped up for a birthday or Christmas.
You don't have to carry every worry inside your head. You just have to find it somewhere safe to live.
