There had been setbacks to the plans of opening the shelters to more survivors, but the discovery of the shelter in Huntsville and the return of the astronauts from the International Space Station had given the Mud Island family a reason to keep fighting to do more than just survive. The Chief, Kathy, and the other veterans of the zombie apocalypse embark on a quest to help the astronaut from England to get home to his wife and children, and in doing so they discover that they aren't the only ones fighting back. The world still faces a long road to recovery, and in some places disasters are yet to come, but they find through their journey that they are not alone.
