Dr. Steven Chang is a brilliant scientist whose dedication has led him to the discovery of a cure for Type 2 Diabetes. His plans to share his work with the wider scientific world are crushed however, when a big pharmaceutical company decides that their profit margins will suffer adversely as a result.
Before Dr. Chang can release his discovery to the media he is assassinated and his home, lab and computers are completely destroyed in a fire. But, unbeknown to those who wanted him dead, Dr. Chang had feared the worst and had protected his data, sending a copy of his work to his son, Jimmy, who is also a doctor.
Now, as Dr. Jimmy fears that he too could become a victim, he decides to enlist the assistance of an ambitious young reporter, Stephanie Myers, to help him release the information and hopefully stay alive. His plan, to meet her at a Christmas Eve event that is packed with people, seems like a good one but he hasn't reckoned on just how ruthless his adversaries are and before long both Jimmy and Stephanie's lives are in danger.
For the assassins there is one problem however, in the form of former police officer Jonathan Reed who now works as a concierge at the resort but who still retains many of the skills he developed on the force.
The question is, can he stop two innocent people from being murdered and allow a cure for a deadly disease to be made available for all?
