Bullying, Corruption, and Murder when a cold case heats up.
It's the summer of 2002. The corpse of a 15 year old boy, missing for thirty years, is discovered in Stoke-on-Trent, a city on the cusp of change. Chief Superintendent Berkins wants the case solved quickly.
DCI Jim Tyler has arrived from London under a cloud, and finds himself teamed up with born-and-bred local DS Danny Mills to investigate the case. There is tension between the chalk-and-cheese detectives from the start, but mingled with a growing mutual admiration.

DCI Jim Tyler has arrived from London under a cloud, and finds himself teamed up with born-and-bred local DS Danny Mills to investigate the case. There is tension between the chalk-and-cheese detectives from the start, but mingled with a growing mutual admiration.
When the dead boy's sister comes forward, describing a bright, solitary child, she points a finger at a litter of school bullies, who have since grown into men. Important careers may now be at stake.
Then one of the bullies is brutally murdered. But what is the connection between the death of a schoolboy in 1972 and this latest killing?
With the pressure building, and the past catching up with Tyler, will he and Mills be able to put aside their differences and catch a cold-blooded killer? Shortlisted for the Arnold Bennett Book Prize. 'Excellent! No spoilers, buy it and enjoy it. A cracking tale, and five stars from me.' - Anita Waller, Bestselling crime writer.
'Emotional read ... great suspense. I am keeping this series on my radar and looking forward to where Tyler and Mills go on from here. ' - JJ Bookworm.

'I found it hard to put this book down and look forward to reading more about Tyler and Mills. An excellent 5 star read' - Maggie Peplow.
'This is a great first book in the Tyler & Mills series. The plot centres around a thirty year old murder. The author does a great job of building the case slowly through circumstantial evidence & decades old witness statements, building to a surprising conclusion. A second murder has the detectives perplexed as they join the dots to connect the two deaths, but there is also light relief as the men rub along together in their new roles. Great book' - Amanda Griffiths-Jones.
'I'm a huge fan of British crime and police procedural novels and, this I found to be a fabulously exciting read.
I want more DCI Tyler and DS Mills! Highly recommend this book, if you like British crime fiction!' - PA Burton.
'Dark, tragic and unputdownable' - Livia Sbarbaro.
