When the world cracked, Konrad Hermann thought fixing one small town was enough.
In the cold ash of Pennsylvania, the engineer, the Marine, the medic, and the organizer have carved out a fragile safe enough - clean water, dim lights, a clinic that mostly holds. Following rumors of dead fish and rainbow-slick currents, Konrad, Lou, Mara, and Dee head upriver into the rust belt's corpse: forgotten tank farms, half-shut factories, and a dam held together by duct tape and denial. There they find a skeleton crew of workers trying to hold back catastrophe with scavenged parts and faith.

At a key choke point on the river, a strongman known only as the Boss has turned electricity into a weapon. He controls the only big generator for days in any direction, deciding who eats cold food and who sweats in the dark. One thrown switch can freeze a neighborhood or silence a rebel.
Konrad came to repair machines, not topple rulers. But as he maps the dam's fractures and the town's circuits, he sees the same design flaw everywhere: one man at the center, one point of failure, one hand on the switch.
To save the river - and themselves - the four of them will have to do something they've never tried before: redesign a whole town while it's still running. Quiet alliances in blackout alleys. Sabotage disguised as safety upgrades. A revolution written in relays and breaker panels instead of banners.
When the storm hits and the fuel trucks roll in, every circuit, rumor, and whispered promise will be tested. Because in a world built on failing infrastructure, the most dangerous thing you can change isn't a dam or a generator.
It's who gets to turn the power on.
