This volume brings together articles on China-related subjects by a leading Russian China expert Alexander Lukin, written from the very beginning of his academic career up to the present day. The first was written in 1991, the last in 2026. It thus represents the culmination of Dr Lukin's work in the field of Chinese studies over a fairly extended period of three and a half decades. The collection is divided into three thematic parts. The first part, entitled Sino-Russian Rapprochement and the Structure of International Relations, is devoted to the evolution of Russian-Chinese relations from their normalization at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s to the close strategic partnership that some even describe as a de facto alliance. The articles in the second part specifically address another crucial dimension of international relations: Sino-US strategic rivalry and its implications for world politics. Finally, the third and most extensive part is devoted to China proper, and in particular to the history and development of ideas in that country during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The book is a must-read for specialists in China, its history and present day, and in international relations in Asia, as well as for all who are concerned with these questions.
