The Runners is a tale of a tribe eternally forced to live in the barren desert within eyesight of an Oasis, and unable to live within, because inside lurks the Great Cat. The only way the tribe is able to live is to send out the strongest men in their tribe to bring back water from the Oasis. The Runners, courageous and noble black men, have to run into the Oasis, fill their packs with water, and daringly outrun the Great Cat every day to bring life to the tribe.
