This is a spoken word journey of the last 13 years of my life. Most of the poems in this book are over a decade old. The journey started after my ex-husband walked out on me. Turning my feelings into poems gave me something to do with the feelings instead of drinking myself to death or other drastic measures. Every time someone around me aroused an emotion, I put it in a poetic story that to most would seem mysterious. The challenge of finding the right word that was catchy but described the emotion or action, was just what I needed to give my life a spark in the darkness. As I look back at some of these poems, I understand why it is important to continue to speak life and be optimistic of your future. I never gave up on my husband that God would send and I have him. I'm not trying to make my husband the most important thing in my life but losing one is how this poetic journey started. My happy ending is nowhere near over and neither is my life a fairytale. There will always be difficulty in our lives. I am thankful for this gift of poetry that gives me a subtle and beautiful way of explaining myself. This journey is full of disappointments but through them all I find my greatest achievement. I would say that is following God. Using my past as a lesson to continue a higher learning. With this kind of degree, we can come up out of hell. Having the wisdom to conquer any problem that life throws at us, is rising into heaven
