Londoner Ronnie Gray and Glaswegian Jim 'Reggie' Craig, are bank robbers. The two met and became friends while sharing a cell in London's Belmarsh Prison. Jim quickly gained the nickname 'Reggie' in homage to the infamous Kray twins. After release, they carry out an audacious jewelery heist and go on the run to Thailand. After several years, they are traced by Detective Inspector Andy 'Bulldog' Jones of the Flying Squad, as well as hearing that friends in the UK have been visited by mysterious thugs seeking the whereabouts of the two. The pair have to go on the run again. They decide to relocate to Kampot in Cambodia and obtain fake passports before making the journey across the border. A couple of weeks after settling in the seaside town, Ronnie is on the way back to their rented villa when he sees a young Cambodian boy being beaten up by a gang of youths. He intervenes and sends the gang off, before tending to the boy's injuries and giving him a ride home. It transpires that the boy he has rescued is the son of a well-known Cambodian gangster, Rinith Mab, known to friends and enemies as 'Mad Mab'. He is grateful for Ronnie's help and they soon become good friends. When Mab finds out about Ronnie and Reggie's past, he enlists their help to plan a big bank robbery in Phnom Penh. He has someone on the inside at the bank and promises that there will be millions in the bank over a certain weekend. But it later turns out that Mab's interest is more in an antique amulet rather than piles of cash.
While the friends plot, Captain Sophie Chang has been assigned the task of cleaning up Cambodia and any fugitives hiding there. It doesn't take long till Ronnie and Reggie are on her list. The two friends help Mab to plot the perfect robbery; they seem to have thought of everything, or have they?
With Sophie Chang on their tail, along with Bulldog and the sudden appearance of two Jewish gangsters, they may have bitten off more than they can chew, especially when some Russians decide to rob the same bank.
Will the two British criminals evade justice or are they destined for an overcrowded cell?
